Waiting is the hardest part!

No, I can think of something much harder than waiting one more day.  Think four more years of republican leadership bullshit.  Despite the sick, nervous feeling in my tummy, I’m confident that Barack is going to pull this election out.  Collectively, Obama has run one of the tightest campaigns I’ve ever witnessed.  No flaws, no major flubs.  Insane grassroots volunteerism, of which I am proud to say I participated in, that really did help make his campaign.  I’m so proud to see such a brilliant, upstanding, strong character running for president.  Gah! I can hardly stand it! Patrick and I have not yet voted, though.  Originally I wanted to wait until THE day.  It felt exciting and official, not to mention that I was flat out worried about early voters getting screwed or lost in some sort of invisible shuffle.  But now, now that the time has come, now that I’ve got less than 24 hours left to wait, now that there is NO OTHER choice but to vote on election day, I’m nervous as all get out! What if I have to stand in line for 6 hours and Patrick is late for class? What if I’m in a car crash and can’t vote?! What if, what if?! I’m just being silly, I know.  But until I’ve pressed submit on that little screen (after reviewing to see that Obama is highlighted, of course.), I’m going to be freaking my freak out.

This Friday is also a long awaited Drinking Liberally meeting.  Actually, I guess I should mention, Drinking Liberally is a National political discussion group (http://livingliberally.org/drinking) for which Patrick started an Athens, GA chapter this summer.  I can’t remember if I’d actually made a post since we started!  This Friday, though, will be our first meeting after the election.  Though we’re all positive that we’ll be celebrating the best possible outcome, we’ll be drinking and conversing either way. Please join us if you’re interested!
