Me, P & the fab Nikk Smith are going to check out the Athens Indie Craftstravaganzaa this weekend. According to the website the Craftstravaganzaa is Athens’ largest craft fair. It’s being held, as the flier states, Saturday, November 22, from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm on the corner of Clayton and Pulaski Streets. We’re gonna check it out around 2:00 pm. Maybe we’ll see you there |

I just read the title of Britney Spears’ new album as “Carcus” (yes, I realize that is an incorrect spelling of carcass) and thought “That’s appropriately titled. Strange, but appropriate.” Then I realized it was not “Carcus” but “Circus.” Less strange perhaps, but still, very appropriate. Just thought I’d share. |
This weekend was awfully busy! Thank goodness it was long. Thursday night Nikki & I carved extra special Halloween pumpkins. We used stencils for our “Barack O’Lanterns” from Yes We Carve.Com. I think the ghostly A’s turned out fabulously! It was my first experience with the pumpkin carving technique of “scraping,” so I ended up with a lot of pumpkin debris flying in my face and down my shirt, but it was all worth it.
Friday was Halloween, of course. Patrick and I dressed up as characters from our favorite show, LOST. I was a scientist, or Karin DeGroot to be exact, and Patrick was button pusher Kelvin Inman.

It was a bit of a trip. Halloween in downtown Athens is always the best. Costumes get more and more elaborate every year. I think my favorite this year was the couple dressed as a Wii and Wiimote
Very creative, but pretty limiting when it comes to movement. It was really something seeing the Wii’s buddy get him up on a chair. More Halloween pictures can be found here, at flickr!
If that weren’t enough (for a homebody like me), Saturday night I visited 8e’s (eighty’s) for the first time. If it’s not obvious, 8e’s is a theme bar where nerds go to dance their booties off to music that is even better 20 years later. Despite the shtick, myself, and two friends were the only people dressed from our “mother generation.” And we were dressed to the hilt! Here’s Nikk and Lesli getting their dance on & Patrick & I just before we left. I think I’ll wear my leg warmers a lot this winter, too. So the purchase wasn’t made completely in vain. Here’s P & I just before we left
