Fireworks Now Legal

Uncategorized No Comments »

Yeah, ya’ll! We can now have sparklers in Georgia! Sparklers are in the “novelty” category, which also includes snaps, snakes, squiggly stars, and Osama’s Turban Bombs! We can also set off smoke items of the novelty category. So many rednecks are going to have amputated fingers and shot out eyes this fourth… Granted, many delinquents visit Florida, Alabama, or South Carolina for their pre-fourth firebug needs, myself included (once or twice), but I think actually offering them at the local Wal-Mart is going to increase the number of accidents caused by sheer stupidity. But what fun it will be?!

It’s getting better

I feel happy this morning because I got an email from Lindsey.

Also, because my job is starting not to suck as much as I thought it would.
I can listen to music, blog, email, scratch myself below my desk, and last week a coworker gave me a zucchini as big as my forearm. What’s better than that, I ask? I’ve yet to download a messenger program here because when I interviewed my boss lady asked me a question about “what would you do if you had a student worker that just used instant messenger all day?” Uh… does she know something about me?!

Anyway, there are a couple of disturbing news stories I’ve read recently that I feel I need to post about. Here they are.

Peeping Tom Pulled from Outhouse Tank
WHA? That’s just… so sick. I can’t imagine ever even entering an outhouse to tinkle, let alone be tinkled upon… while inside a TANK FULL OF SHIT!

Boffins Create Zombie Dogs
I’m excited about the religious debate that this discovery is sure to ensue. ESPECIALLY if this is performed on humans. Awesome.
This article also thought me what a “boffin” is.

bumps, thumps, and shivers.

I’m a sad little girl.

In my last entry I expressed my relief at having finally found a job… Relieved, yes, this much is true, because in my brain I know that I need to have a job while Patrick is in school. In my heart, I’m dying because I really don’t want to be doing the work that I’m doing. I feel very, very unfulfilled and unrealized. Already, Holly?! Yes. God, that’s the worst part. I feel it already – after one week! Maybe it will change, but I just don’t know how long I can keep up. The whole month I was unemployed I know I did a lot of sitting on my ass, but hey, I also did a lot of things that made me feel like a talented, smart person who can provide a service to people that doesn’t require working for the man in a stuffy, ex-dormitory building on campus. Boo. Now I’m just feeling sorry for myself. Maybe later on, when fall comes around and I get some student workers to boss (hah! just kidding), I’ll feel better about myself.

Patrick left me tonight to go see Pylon at athfest. Our friend Brendan was supposed to come down this week for a visit, but, unfortunately, was unable to make the trip. I feel bad that Patrick went by himself, but really I couldn’t care less about most music festivals. I guess that’s just because I’m a lame-o. Anyway, I’m home alone now and I keep hearing weird noises downstairs and I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s the tv on but I’m a little too scared to go look. It could also be my neighbors being weird playing really loud Mexican music. :/ Being alone in the house sucks at night. But Patrick was extra nice to me today before he left so I wouldn’t pout too much about him going without me. I thought that was funny. :D Patrick, you are a stinkbot.

Speaking of stink, did the puppy just take a poop inside?!

Hooray!

Yesterday, I sent Patrick out on an errand and before he made it a mile away he called me and said “A little puppy just ran out in front of my car!” So I thought, oh God, did you hit it?! But he didn’t! He stopped and gathered the puppy up and brought the little bundle home.

He looks to be about 3 months old, possibly an American Bulldog puppy. I think we’re going to keep him, and my reasoning for that is that any good dog parent who was caring for a sweet, cute baby such as this would NOT let their pup out without a collar & tag. He’s not old enough to run so fast that you couldn’t keep up with him. We called Animal control and no one has even reported him missing! Really, I see no excuse for such horrible pet care. But IF you happen to read this and you lost your baby near Fritz Mar, contact me and I’ll consider getting back to you.

WTF?

“Man With Chain Saw, Sword is Let Into U.S.”

A U.S. Border Patrol spokesman says:
“Nobody asked us to detain him…” “Being bizarre is not a reason to keep somebody out of this country or lock them up. … “

Maybe being bizarre isn’t necessarily a reason to assume the worst of someone, but maybe the bloody chainsaw and teeshirt are…

Seriously, WTF?

Sleepy!

I sure could use a nap right about now.

I had a job interview earlier this morning. I really liked the people who interviewed me, so hopefully this will pan out.

A friend called me after that and asked if I’d go to Commerce with her to return some shoes. Sure, why not! But we ended up not going so now I’m just here at home bored, watching a cheesy cheesy John Ritter movie called “The Colony.” Bored! I also keep flipping back to a local news station hoping that their Michael Jackson “Verdict Watch” will have some news for me. I really want to know what this jury will come up with. I MUST GET OUT OF THIS HOUSE!

My mom keeps bragging to me that her pool is clean and sparkly, even though she knows I don’t have a place to swim here in Athens. I had really hoped to get to go down south and have a mini vacation before I started work again, but I have a really good feeling about this job and I’m thinking maybe I won’t get to go. boo!

Oh shit, I missed the end of the colony!

Sometimes I’m so glad to be reminded of how human I am.

Jack White Weds

Uncategorized 1 Comment »

Anyone who knows me knows that I do love me some White Stripes. I’ve been fortunate enough to see them on the small 40watt stage as well as a huge park venue. The first show left me speechless (which is somewhat of a chore) and I’ve been semi-obsessed since.

Well, this morning I checked my email and found out that *gasp* Jack White has wed! Although there are already speculations that the announcement is false (“someone hacked the site!” “it’s just a trick.” “he’s making fun of Renée!” blahblahblah), it’s still got me interested.

His bride, Karen Elsen, was the model for the Stripes latest video for their first single, “Blue Orchid”, off the newest album, Get Behind Me, Satan. You can see the video here. Please save the video to your computer to view. I probably won’t keep it up for long, though, as the file size is so large.

Thus far there are no pictures of the wedding that is said to have occurred in Brazil “on the confluence of three rivers — the Rio Negro, the Solimones and the Amazon… by a traditional shaman priest on a canoe at the exact point where the three rivers met.” But, I do admit, if this is true then I can’t wait to see some shots. :)
