Yesterday was the first day of “early voting” in the state of Georgia. Of course, the voting hours are between 8 am & 5 pm, so it’s very inconvenient for anyone who actually works to have time to go vote during this early voting period. However, my boss did say that I could take off any time I wanted to go vote, which is very nice, but I think I might as well wait until the morning of November 2. Usually the lines are very short if you go early in the a.m. when the polls have just opened. Also, I know Patrick will not take off any time to go vote early and I’ll end up having to wait for him to vote on the 2nd anyway since he always drops me off at work.

I’m very anxious and excited about the election this year. It truly is one of the most important elections; and certainly THE most important that I’ve ever been allowed to participate in. I voted in the last election, for Gore, and felt so disheartened that my vote was all but useless in a system of electorial college. . . not to mention the fact that some votes weren’t counted at all. There have been an overwhelming number of newly registered voters this year, and that makes me proud. I was worried that all of those new and prospective voters might have just registered without an honest intent to vote in the election, but yesterday, when the polls opened, there were lines 3 hours long in Atlanta! Most of these voters were African American, which can mean nothing (in most cases) but votes for Kerry. I just can’t imagine living in a country run by W. for four more years. Honestly, I am considering moving to Canada.

On a completely unrelated note, Patrick and I saw the Pixies on the 13th. It really was a great show. The Fox theater is such a beautiful venue. I’d never been there before and was surprised at just how classy it was. A screen on the ceiling of the theater imitated the night sky with twinkling stars and puffy clouds slowly moving by. It was hard to take my eyes off of the lovely theater just to watch the band. Needless to say, we both enjoyed seeing the Pixies, who played a good set. The seats were great, too. About 11 rows back, center stage – and an usher! hah. . . I’ve never been to a rock concert with an usher before.

Well, now that I’m working full time, I spend 8 hours a day in front of a computer. I should have plenty of time to keep up with some sort of journal. . . Not that anyone reads this. I will try my best.
